Social Media Comment Policy:

Where moderation of comments is an available option, comments from the public will be moderated by City of Thousand Oaks staff before posting. Where moderation prior to posting is not an option, sites will be regularly monitored by staff.

City of Thousand Oaks designated staff will not post any comments and will remove comments, as the case may be, that are  obscene, defamatory, in violation of the copyright, trademark right, or other intellectual property right of any third party, not topically relevant to the article or post being commented upon or otherwise appropriate such as the following examples:

• Potentially libelous comments
• Derogatory comments about race, creed, color, age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or religion
• Plagiarized material
• Private, personal information published without consent
• Sexual content or links to sexual content
• Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
• Commercial promotions or spam
• Hyperlinks to material that is not  related to the discussion
• Support or opposition to political candidates or ballot propositions
