William Sanford "Bill" Nye is a scientist, engineer, comedian, best-selling author, and inventor. He is a man with a mission: to help foster a scientifically literate society. He is best known as the host of the PBS science show, Bill Nye the Science Guy which aired from 1993–98, and for his many appearances as a science educator. In 1977, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a job at Boeing. In Seattle, Nye began to combine his love of science with his flair for comedy, when he developed dual careers as an engineer by day and a stand-up comic by night. Bill Nye the Science Guy earned 19 Emmys in five years. His latest venture, Bill Nye Saves the World will debut on Netflix this April.
